Barry Manilow Received Raves for Randy Edelman’s “Weekend In New England” @ Radio City Music Hall

Prolonged female screams echoed and bounced off the concrete walls of Radio City Music Hall in New York City the other night during Barry Manilow’s performance of “Weekend In New England” as soon as “When can I touch you?” left his lips. He paused for a brief second and said almost in disbelief…”Still after all these years.” His words hung in the air carrying throughout the room like distant thunder freezing everyone in place and then he continued the song.

The timeless song written by the iconic pop recording artist and film score composer Randy Edelman has often been pointed out by those who review music as a revolutionary song for the pop charts in the 1970’s. First because it’s written in 3/4 time, a waltz, and second because the title never appears in the song at all. That beautiful piano piece that starts the song off could have easily been part of a Franz Liszt symphony and the lyrics paint a pallet more vibrant and romantic than that of Francisco Goya.

Manilow’s performance was joyful and ageless. He bridges the gaps between generations with his enthusiasm, his flamboyance, nostalgia and romance. He is the “quintessential blend of classic New Yorker meets exuberant performer.” It was a night of exceptional stage presence, an uncanny ability to engage with the audience, high level of energy and charisma, and a night of his greatest hits….”A Weekend In New England” the most exquisite. Manilow is currently touring North America and has a new residency at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

Randy Edelman who also remains relevant and beautiful across time has an enduring quality that transcends the ordinary and has an unwavering dedication to his craft. His journey, both in the music and the film industry is a testament to the triumphs that come with his artistic commitment. Edelman will be celebrating the compelling journey of his career in solo performances through his music on April 24th at The Crazy Coqs in London, June 6th @ Lincoln Center NYC debut, September 7th at Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut, and a repeat performance at Carnegie Hall, NYC on December 19, 2025.
